A survey is given on various methods for the solution of polynomial
diophantine equations. In the first part a general theorem Bilu-Tichy is
applied to several specific polynomial families, focusing on orthogonal
polynomials. In the second part some applications of Schmidt's subspace
Theorem are presented. We mainly discuss dioophantine equations involving
linear recurring sequences.
